Services
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation provides patients with the opportunity to develop a better understanding of the mental health concern they came in for. Participating in psychoeducation may increase therapy effectiveness and improve a person’s quality of life.
Online Therapy
Patients have the ability to log in from a private location and participate in a higher level of care from the convenience of their own homes or other designated safe spaces.
Counseling
In the confidential one-on-one setting of individual therapy, you can feel at ease with a highly trained therapist. As you work through your emotional issues, you may begin to feel more empowered and enlightened about the triggers for behaviors that might have led you to seek help initially.
Sex/Love/Porn Addiction Therapy
Sex addiction is commonly overlooked or misdiagnosed, but the fact is that sex addiction damages the self and relationships. Our certified sex addiction therapists specialize in providing well-rounded, introspective therapy for you to break negative habits and adopt a new healthy, and controlled lifestyle.
Group Therapy
Hearing from and sharing your experiences with others who have had similar experiences will be profoundly helpful in the healing process. Group therapy creates a guided setting where you can build a supportive network that will help your recovery.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy technique for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and relieving psychological stress.
Couples Therapy
Utah Couples Therapy serves all types of intimate relationships regardless of sexual orientation or marital status. The therapists at Sano Center specialize in working with couples to help them face their challenges and heal from past relational trauma.
Recovery Coaching
Starting the recovery process can be very difficult. Staying on track may be just as challenging. The Recovery Coach is intended to help you stay headed in the right direction between your individual therapy sessions. It may also serve as your primary form of treatment if you are not able to see a therapist in your area.
Who We Are
Formerly known as Sano Center for Recovery, an addiction-focused treatment center with seven years of service to the Southern California community, Sano Counseling Center has re-opened with a goal to serve a broad range of clients. In addition to specializing in recovery from sex and love addiction, we help people struggling with other mental health disorders, too. We have also recently expanded our online therapy options to service Utah residents.
Whatever it is that you bring to therapy, our interdisciplinary approach is inclusive and customized to suit your unique needs. Many of us have had personal experiences with addiction, trauma, and dysfunctional relationships and understand what it takes to bring balance to life. We bring Eastern contemplative practices, like mindfulness meditation, to Western science and integrate them into holistic treatment plans.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
The simple answer is, unfortunately, no. Sano does not bill insurance directly on the client’s behalf; however, you may request a superbill to submit a claim to your insurance for reimbursement. Often, PPOs will reimburse up to 60% for out-of-network providers like Sano if you have met your deductible.
What if I can’t pay for therapy?
We strive to help everyone we can and will work with you to find a solution that suits all parties. All of our therapists offer a sliding-scale fee. If the fees are still not affordable, we will gladly refer you to a therapist or center that offers low-cost therapeutic services.
Yes, children and adolescents are welcome at Sano. While our specialties are largely focused on adult issues and pathology, many of our therapists are experienced in working with children and families. We also offer a group for adolescents ages 12-14. See our Group Therapy page for more details. A parent/guardian must sign a consent-to-treat-minor form to begin therapy for anyone under 18.
My partner/loved one is a (sex, love, porn, alcohol, drug) addict. Can you help me?
While we can’t promise to “cure” your partner of their addiction or even help them to see that their behavior is harmful to you, we absolutely will support you as you navigate your relationships and life decisions.
