My name is Katie Olney, and I am an Associate Therapist at Sano Counseling Center. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University. My main objective is to support you in gaining a deeper understanding of your emotional challenges, while at the same time, empowering you to make healthy and desired changes.
My therapeutic approach encompasses empathy, insight, validation, and collaboration in a non-judgmental space. I utilize an integrated approach when working with clients that are heavily informed by psychodynamic, feminist, and person-centered theories. I also incorporate motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to form a deeper understanding of clients’ concerns and to help build a deeper mind-body connection.
In our world, so often we do not feel seen. I became a therapist because I feel there is power in sharing and processing our stories in an accepting and compassionate environment. Starting this journey takes courage. I am here to support, empower, and encourage you every step of the way and ensure you feel that you have autonomy in this space. I believe that everyone has their own narrative, and together, we will work to understand your story further, look at new perspectives, and most importantly, create a space where you feel seen.
